Mo Akin
SAT/ACT Coach & College Admissions Counselor
Hi! it’s Mo here, proprietor at PrepWithMo. My test prep and college counseling journey started almost fifteen years ago, when I moved to the US to start college. I had to figure out how the SATs worked if I would have any chance at a scholarship. So, I took the test apart, figured it out, aced, and got a full-ride scholarship to come study computer science. To get into grad school, I had to pull off the same trick. This time, I got a perfect math score and got into MIT, my dream school, where I studied Education Technology and Policy.
After graduation, I saw that I enjoyed working directly with students to achieve their goals better than working on education policy, so I moved to Dallas to start PrepWithMo. Since then, for the last seven years, it has been my distinct pleasure and privilege to contribute to the success of hundreds of students by guiding them to ace their tests and to make the most of the college applications process, especially their essays and scholarships. Getting to see a kid maximize their potential is what I live for. But when I am not doing this, I can be found being a midfield screener in my local soccer team or reading books on philosophy, sociology, neuroscience, business or psychology. Humans are a fascinating lot, I tell you.

Pranav
My name is Pranav, and I am currently attending Texas A&M University at College station as a junior working towards a degree in Math.
Pranav, Tutor
I am a 98th percentile scorer on the SAT, consistently receiving perfect scores in the math and writing sections. While I do love math, I have a passion for making games, so I plan to pursue computer science after earning my bachelor's in mathematics. Aside from making games, I also love playing them with my friends (feel free to ask me for my username/gamertag). My goal with being a personal tutor is to help other students achieve their dream scores and get into their dream schools, which is why I love doing it!

How We’ve Excelled Throughout the Years
Company History
Fifteen years ago, while growing up in Africa, Mo Akin had a dream to attend a top college in the U.S. He also needed to get a scholarship.
This dream motivated him to direct much of his efforts toward succeeding on college entrance exams and learning exactly what else makes college admissions officers take notice of ambitious students.
“After graduating, I wanted to help other young people figure out these tests so they could get into top schools with scholarships as well,” he says. “So, I started PrepWithMo.”
PrepWithMo emphasizes the importance of setting high goals, gathering the information and preparation needed to achieve those goals, and diligently practicing to acquire the skills needed to reach them. Mo helps young people recognize the value of enduring the frustrations that come from trying to achieve something worthwhile.
Mo’s work at PrepWithMo has remained strong for seven years, during which he has counseled hundreds of students on an individual basis. Alongside his team of each personal tutor and mentor, he looks forward to helping your child, too, and is sure that his vital services will continue for a lifetime.
Our mission — the one reason why Prep With Mo exists — is that we believe in the pursuit of knowledge and purpose.
Whether it’s the SAT/ACT, or it’s college applications and essays, for us, what ultimately counts – beyond particular test scores or admissions results – is that a child 1) actually learns, 2) leaves with an appreciation of the value of coming to know, and 3) gets inspired to use their knowledge to pursue purpose.
Tangibly, what this means is that we might ask your child to work out that math problem a third time instead of feeding them the answer the first time because we believe they will learn better that way. It means we might ask them to write that essay afresh because we believe they can do better, even though their current effort is passable. It definitely means that, for us, it is way more important to get your child to learn and to see how knowledge helps with purpose than it is to make sure they don’t feel frustrated at trying again and again, or irritated at how demanding we can be, or shocked that we actually expect them to try.
We want to partner with your family to elevate your child, and we can’t wait to meet you!
Our vision?
We picture a future full of even more educated, hardworking people whose knowledge contributes to thriving communities around the world.
Do you want to reach our goals along with us?
Every child can benefit from a personal tutor, mentor, and counselor.
Reach out to Mo and his team for individualized college admissions assistance.
Because of Mo’s SAT strategies, I increased my score by 190 points and got a full ride scholarship!
